We are totally new to this and we have 8 hens aged 17 weeks. Sunday just gone we had our first egg from one of our black rock layers. It was a little small but we were so excited. Yesterday she laid another a lot bigger between 4 - 5pm. Today we saw her lay another egg about 6pm but the egg had no shell. Then 45 minutes later the other Black Rock laid her first egg, this aswell had no shell. Then I just went to check on them and I could see them feasting on a yolk then found the membrane so another of our hens had their first egg but yet again with no shell..

I am feeding them layers pellet and they also have oyster shell and grit in their run.

Is this normal just found it a bit weird that all eggs laid today had no shell.

They are new layers so it will take time for them to get in the habbot of laying. Their eggs will get bigger and harder. Oyster shells help with the hardning of the shell. Good Luck:)
