Today when I was gathering eggs I found one under a tree in the enclosed section of our yard. Next to the egg was another egg that just had a membrane and no shell. How does this happen and what (if anything) can I do about it?

I have a small dish filled with a combo of oyster shell and grit in their coop. Maybe I should start adding it back to their feed again. I was told their would be less waste if I fed it separately.
