Eggs

We have three ducks, two girls & a boy, all three hatched in May. Last Tuesday we discovered our first egg. We had another one on Wednesday & then another one on Thursday. Nothing Friday through this morning or so I thought. I was just in their enclosure with them when I decided to look a little closer to see if maybe I missed an egg this morning & this is what I found hiding in the straw...four eggs! How do I know if they’re fertile? We are new to having ducks so we have lots of questions.

Congrats that’s a windfall. Crack an egg and look for the bulls eye that is a fertile egg. If you google fertile duck eggs you’ll see pic of fertile an unfertile

Crack them open and if they have a little white bullseye, they are fertile but still good to eat!

If you search some keywords of your questions here on our site, you will probably get several threads filled with great information! Honestly, BYC has been the single most helpful resource for anything backyard bird related!

I agree this site is the best. I started with Dave Holdereads Story's Guide to Raising Ducks. I have read it at least 4 times and still use it as a reference. Dave is somewhat of a legend in the duck world.
