First off, Welcome to the BYC!

To answer your question, it depends. If the temp is 32-65 degrees, they will be okay for a long time. If it is below 32, they could possibly freeze eventually. It would take a while, but could happen. If temp is above 70, they could go bad in a few days. As long as you don't let them go more than a couple days, you should have no problem with any temps. I would suggest collecting them as promtly as possible so you don't any issues. Some folks collect several times a day. I collect mine once a day. I usually wait until late afternoon because the hens have all layed by then.
