I am thinking about raising some chickens for eggs. The questions I have are how often do you have to pick up the eggs? Also, after you pick up the eggs and put them in the frig, how long do they say good?

thanks for the help

I collect my eggs at least once daily (more when its freezing out or super hot) and put them right into the frig. Mine never last long (maybe a week) but they can last up to a month or longer.

Oh, heck. I'll just bet my eggs would last six months in the refrigerator should they not get eaten!

On the ones I sell I put a "use by" date of five weeks but I truly think they would last MUCH longer.

That is: I do not wash the bloom off. OR if they need to be washed, wash in warmer water than the egg, and replace the bloom with a tiny bit of food quality mineral oil rubbed in.

Old homesteader trick. I expect other kinds of oil would be fine also.
