is it normal for every few days to find an egg with a soft shell lying in the yard? I am feeding my birds layered feed and have had some crushed oyster out for them too.

forgot to add that my silkie was eating the egg after she figured out how to get through the soft shell.

Down towards the middle will be the soft shell egg and a description of what is happening. Apparently its somewhat common and nothing to worry about.

Yep, it's common, especially for first timers... their plumbing isn't quite gettin' with the program yet. You may have a few more Hens than you thought you did
