well we thought our 5 hens just started to lay couple weeks ago. it started with one egg then 2 and 3. yesterday we got 4. so today i jet the hens out a 1pm and one of them were gone. i went looking for her and she went in the woods.so i hear her making noise in the woods i go over and she layin a egg. i walk over to where she was and wow 15 eggs in the nest. i have no clue how long shes been laying.all the eggs aere cold but the one she just layed. are those eggs good or should we get rid of them??????? THIS IS The second nest i have found this week. the first one had 9 in it. i dont want to throw good eggs if dont have too .. someone please help

You can try the float test. You fill a bowl with water and put the egg in it. If it sinks to the bottom, it's good. If it stands a little, it's still good, but I'd crack it open separately from the good ones and smell it. If it floats it's bad.

As long as they are not cracked and have been in a place that is dry and not super hot I would eat them. Eggs from backyard chickens do not need to be refrigerated if you do not wash them.
