Eggtopsy: What happened to my egg? {Graphic Pictures}

Pics
Im not sure which one you are asking about. The fully developed egg or the other 4 that didn't even make it past 10 days. The fully developed chick i did pip on day 24, I was so excited after the first 6 made it!! Then I decided after about 3 hours that there should be some sort of movement, chirping, something.....yet there was nothing, so I began "helping" my chick get out, then I got scared and put my chick back in the incubator with the sack still fully wrapped around it, an hour or two later, no pipping, no movement and then I took the egg out again and decided that I needed to completely remove the chick from the shell. At that point it was too late, it had already been suffocated. :( The other 4 didn't make it past 10 days. one egg didn't make it past day 3-4, 2 eggs must have gotten a virus, and died during incubation process. One however wasn't even fertilized. It seems really weird because I candled each at day 7 and found the veins and the heart beat, so maybe it was just a trick of lighting or my hopes, but it was a dud.

that sounds to me like the chick died before you started helping. If the shell is opened where the air sac is the chick can still pip through the membrane on their own. There used to be air there before. If there was no movement after opening the one end for an hour then the baby wasnt alive to begin with. It wouldnt have suffocated because of your help. By day 24 it should have already internally pipped. Especially with the yolk being fully absorbed, they finish that after they internally pip over many hours 8 - 12

Can anyone tell me what might have happened?

Looks like it quit around day 18-19. I can't tell for sure on mobile, but does the yolk look kinda green? Could have been infected. Were there any deformities, not visible in the pic? (skull, other side of head, etc)
Also, how big was the air cell? Maybe the chick got too large to continue to absorb?? Was it positioned correctly in the shell?

Sometimes we can only guess...

The yolk did look a little green and I'm not sure if the chick was too big. When I was holding it the chick was the length of my hand. This is my first time incubting. What does it mean if the yolk is green? What could cause that? Thank you for your help!

Green could come from bacterial infections maybe, which could come from the parents, or from dirty eggs, or even from within the incubator.

What breed of chick was it? Did any others hatch?

I had 13 to start with. I'm still learning so I candled the eggs to see if they were fertile and im not sure I could tell. I had 8 that never did anything 2 that showed the red ring and 2 that are suppose to hatch Monday and the one that didn't make it. I cleaned the incubator really good before I used it. The eggs came from a friend, they are sextons.

Good luck with the final two, I hope they hatch for you!

It's difficult to say what may have gone wrong. Temp spikes, inconsistent humidity... So many possibilities.
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow things down. Have your temps and humidity been good and consistent? Proper ventilation? What kind of incubator? When you candled, did you shine through the air cell and check to see if the air cell was the proper size?

No problem! It's helping me out on what to look for now. Right at the end on the morning of day 20 the humidity got really high. It took me a little bit to get it back down.

Sometimes unstable humidity can cause issues, but by day 20, humidity should be high anyway.

Did you set at different times? I'm wondering how day 20 came, if they aren't due until Monday.

Humidity is one of the biggest variables when incubating. What works for some, doesn't work for others. Getting it right, unfortunately, takes a little trial and error.
