This one peeped yesterday afternoon and was kicking but then went quiet so I candled and there was no visible air cell. There were no peeps or movement. When I cracked the large end there was no beak visible but I knew it had peeped. So I kept cracking and it had peeped halfway down the egg. It was definitely dead and I suspect for a few hours. As you can see it hadn’t absorbed the yolk or vessels properly and it was at day 23. I don’t know what went wrong

I'm sorry for your loss.
If I'm under correctly he broke through the inner me brand below the ait sac, right?
He could have drowned. Sometime these things just happen.

Yes that’s correct it was definitely malpositioned as it had peeped the membrane about .5-1cm below the air cell. I’m surprised it cheered and kicked as long as it did as we could hear it for about 7 hours. I had a bad feeling when it went quiet but am resigned that even if I had cracked it lastnight having peeped wrong I couldn’t have helped it as it hadn’t absorbed everything anyway. Am so disappointed! Have another due in 2 days so fingers crossed this one is positioned better. It had a lovely air cell and was very active at day 18. Thanks for your reply
