Egyptian Geese? (pic)

I happen to raise Toulouse geese as well and my Egyptians are no where near the size of my girls. They might be different in the wild; however I have never seen an Egyptian in captivity the size of a Toulouse goose... not even close.

Why would you want a goose that could be so aggressive?

Just my opinion.... we love the birds. We raised all of them from goslings and they really aren't that bad. In other words they are worth putting up with. They do have a bad rep. but we like them. I agree with some other people on here... they are not for everybody. I also agree with snowydiamonds about them being a nuisance in other parts of the world. It is the same with Canadian geese; however some people choose to raise them. For what reason? I think they just simply like them.

I can reason that. I guess I'd just be afraid for my other birds well being. But as long as they're kept separate?

They are very unique looking.

We raise Egyptian geese, both colored and white.

More Duck like than goose (Almost Muscovy like not in teperment though)

In my opinion, Egyptians are not like domestic ducks or even Muscovies. They are similar to Shellducks, which they are related too.

Will Kill other birds (My friend had her male kill a female Sebastapol)

YES they can be aggressive- but so can many other birds. I have seen African & Embdem ganders go after other waterfowl. Most times Egyptians will pick on other waterfowl when locked in a small pen with other birds.

Can be nasty to people when in breeding mode

Most of my geese get protective of their nest during breeding. My sebastopol's can bite just as hard as an Egyptian.

Not a good first goose and shouldnt be kept with ANY other birds...

We keep ours with many other birds.

I have a rep as being a SOB myself. I was contacted by a person in Texas that claimed to have 57 young grown birds that he could sell me at $10/bird but I would have to come and catch and transport them myself, I told him NO THANKS! and put a block on his email address. They are beautiful but so are sharks and sharks don't fly. They look young in that picture, If they have the red spot on their breast they are old enough to be dangerous.

Was the guy harrassing you that you had to block his email??????

TO me the birds in the photo look like adults- young birds would not have as distinct markings on the neck ring and eye patch, they would also have a greyish tint in the white wing shoulders. The birds in the photo are in poor feather on the breast and lower neck- so the red chest patch would not be visible. Also looks like the closer bird has an angelwing or atleast some issue with the wing feathers.

You can see a family of Egyptians in the left background. The male will not let the other geese within a few feet of the babies, but you can see the Hybrid Canadian gander with a little baby only about 15 feet away to the right (the little baby is kinda hidden behind the head of it's mother).
