Egyptian Geese? (pic)

In my opinion- angel wing would not be a problem. But i would question if the two in the photo are a male and female. They both look more like males to me, but with just one photo and not actually seeing them- It is hard to tell.

We are hoping to sell Egyptian eggs this spring- we have 4 pairs of colored, 4 pairs of Whites and a few pairs of Colored/White. I am planning on keeping them penned so I know when they are laying and can pick eggs as they are laid.

Really? Is angel wing curable??? If i went to see the geese, how would i know male from female?

I would love to know when you have eggs! Thank You!

Angelwing is not curable at this age anymore. I don't like angelwing, the birds are not as attractive when they have it, but it doesn't scare me either.

You would tell the male and female apart by the sound they make, males are usually larger too, but the voice is the sure way.

ALso when you have colored and white Egyptians- some are sex linked.

If a pair of colored birds that carry the white gene- produce any white offspring they will be females.

In order to produce a white male baby- at least one parent has to be white and both parents would need the white gene.

Question for spectrumranch: Are your Egyptians pinioned? Or do they just stay around? I keep mine in a huge pen, I am afraid if I let them all out they will fly away. I let one out at a time and they will come back. They will land in the trees and such, but I have never let them all out together. Great looking flock by the way. Thanks

Yes we pinion ours. I forgot to mention that before- thanks.

Thanks for the info spectrumranch. I will continue doing what works on our place

Ryan: I am not sure if he would stay around or not. I took a big risk letting one out at a time I thought, but it happened to work for me. I wouldn't recommend it though. I wanted to have mine pinioned when I purchased them from the breeder, however they didn't give me the option. I have to keep a top on our Java Peafowl as well.

If I was going to only pinion one, I would choose the male- that way if he wanted to chase others it would at least slow him down.

I would clip the wings on both the male and female, if they were mine. Why keep either full winged? (clipping is just a temporary solution away).

i had a adult pair, i was dissapointed they where the same size as muscovie ducks! as mine where adults when i got them they where really really strong and hated human contact. but i should imagine from youngsters they'll be like any animal. good luck!
