El cheapo 1960's Airstream coop

El cheapo? I think not. You could sell that airstream to an enthusiast and get enough to build a heck of a coop. They are classics and people collect them.

I agree- but I love it either way! You know they sell those patio string lights that look just like little airstream trailers? That would be a festive way to light the run if you wanted to.

I would LOVE an airstream trailer to use as our camper, now our camper coop cost us NOTHING, but my sister did buy the camper to redo and found out it was beyond repair. We havent done much to the inside of ours, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see photos of how you have done your roosts, nest boxes etc.. in yours! Here is a photo of our camper coop lol

Surpisingly it stays cool as we keep all the windows open, the top vent open and my husband built a screen door out of hardware cloth for it!

While I think the camper coops are neat, how do you guys with them, keep the pressed wood flooring from rotting out? Leaving the windows and doors open allows rain water to get in and do damage.

we put linoleum flooring in ours.

Vinyl flooring is good! Now, how do you combat the rotting around the window sills and door frames? I used to live in a MH, and had problems with the water that would run down the window frames and capillary under the vinyl. This would happen on days when we would leave the windows open because we actually belived the weather forcast for no rain.

I dont know about the airstream but the only wood in ours is cheap-o laminate type stuff that is stuck on the walls, and most of that we pulled off already. Our camper is pretty much all metal including the window frames etc..

Then you are good to go! Was the flooring metal originally? I do like the idea of a trailer based coop! If you move, you can haul the coop along with you.

The Airstream body is usually stainless steel, and are usually quite expensive when bought new.

Not sure what is under the wood cheapy stuff on the floor, we just threw laminate flooring remnants on top of the floor. We keep a really thick layer of shavings on the floor
