Elector PSP - two questions!

Some of my flock have lice 😬. I treated everyone and the entire coop (after I stripped it) with poultry lice dust while I waited for my Elector PSP to arrive. It arrived today and I treated all my birds thoroughly with that. I saw no live lice but there were definitely eggs and I made sure to separate the feathers and saturate the entire afflicted area.

Now, I also have two broody hens and I ordered hatching eggs for them before this whole lice debacle. The eggs arrived and I'm wondering if I can safely put the eggs in the nests for my girls in the morning? Everyone seems healthy and perky but will tonight's application of the PSP hurt the eggs if I put them under the girls in the morning?

Last but not least, when can I expect to see my girls without any lice eggs on them? How soon does the Elector PSP work?

Thank you in advance for those that are taking the time to read this!

If you read their fact sheet it doesn't list lice.

I use permethrin which has worked well for me against most every pest, flies, mites, lice and much more cost effective. I use the concentrate at 0.50%. Here is a chart another BYC member made for the different concentrations. Good luck...

I use poultry dust in the nest boxes.

I took a fine toothed comb and got the lice eggs off of my birds that had them but I still treated them with the permethrin.

I'm sure it will work on lice too. I don't use it because the permethrin works as well in my opinion and costs way less.

Elector PSP doesn't list lice only because the manufacturer didn't go through the extra cost and effort of a study and documentation...it works great on lice. Some keepers prefer permethrin because it's cheaper but I greatly prefer spinosad because it is usually a "once and done" treatment and I prefer to not have to keep treating every two weeks. Occasionally someone will need to treat a second time with spinosad, but usually it just works and that's it for at least several months. Neuroscigirl, it works instantly but you will still see the dead egg clusters until they fall off or the feathers molt and regrow...that doesn't mean they're alive or doing any damage (assuming you diluted it properly and treated them thoroughly.) I don't think it would hurt the eggs, since it is safe for humans to get on them and approved for organic gardening. There is no egg withdrawal time needed.
