electric fence around coop

I'm new to raising chickens and trying to keep predators out. have not seen any info on electric fence around perimeter. anyone heard of using electric fence around chickens. Not where the chicks can get in contact with fence.

I have seen some threads about using electric fencing on the outside of the coops and runs. You might want to try using the advanced search function at the top of the page.

That should be fine, but just make sure that there is no way the chickens will be touching the fence. If an animal their size touched it that would be bad.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Quite a few people use electric fence around the outside of the run to repel predators. You can also get electrified woven fence, that serves to both keep chickens in and predators out when ranging birds - in this case you do not need a barrier between the fence and the chickens.
