Electric Fence Question..

Since I put up my electric wires around my coops and pens, nothing has penetrated. A few have been zapped by the wires so now they steer clear of it. The predators know it's there.

You place the wire 6 inches off the ground right? And have another one higher? I am curious how to wire the fence?

I plan on making my setup like cmom's eventually with 3 strands to cover the backside of an acre but right now I just have a 100 ft premier poultry fence surrounding their coop door, with a gallagher solar charger I bought from the feed store. Electric gives you so much piece of mind. I was worried about putting in the grounds but I only used one and it's working fine for me.

If anything touches my fence and the electric wire, it will know it. All of my fence posts are metal too.
