electric fence

a section of my run is only 4' tall. i'm hoping my 'heavy breeds' will not be inclined to jump it. however, it's certainly low enough for predators to jump or climb. if i put electric fence on the top, will it hurt the birds, or since they are not touching the ground, they will not be shocked?

They shouldn't be on top of the fence to touch it, but if they only touch one wire and nothing else, they won't feel anything.

I'd run one or two more around the outside to deter climbers too
It won't cost much to run several extra wires
