Hi I was wondering when I need to add electrolytes to my chickens water. It’s supposed to be 90 degrees this week here in Southern Indiana. Thanks y’all!!!

I was wondering the same thing. It's been 95 every day where I am and I haven't given any because my chickens actually seem to like the weather. They just hang out in the shade and forage in the afternoon when it cools down. I've been giving them watermelon or cantaloupe every day and they seem to enjoy it.

Well most electrolyte supplements are packed with salt, so not sure how that helps in the heat. They don’t sweat out salts like humans do.

My favorite vitamin pack is BVC Poultry start which is good for them in general, but don’t know if it does anything for the heat specifically.

I’m thinking plenty of water and shade are the best things for heat management.

Also picking a white feathered lighter weight breed if your in a very hot area is probably a good idea too.

I have a young very huge very feathered buff Cochin with feathered feet ugh . I will put the fan on them on super hot days, I’ll pick up some of that of that vitamin poultry packs. Poor chickens. It’s like my rooster has permanent house slippers
