There is a mother hen with 13 chicks that are living in mine and our neighbors yard.. the chicks are about 4 weeks old. I’d like to keep the hen and maybe 2 FEMALE chicks but they have been running free for so long I didn’t know if I could tame them.. they come to my yard and eat food in a dog cage I have put out.. tried to catch them with no success.. don’t know what to do..

Hi and welcome to active posting. I’d suggest building a coop and run for the birds prior to considering capture (only consider separating mother from unwanted chicks until after the mother has weaned the chicks and no longer looks after them). The best time to capture chickens is once they have roosted on a night time.

Hello and welcome to active posting on BYC! :frow Nice to meet you.
I agree with @Pork Pie. If you want them, you will need to build a coop and run for them regardless. Once it's done, start feeding them in there. When they go in one night, lock them in. You can then work on getting them to trust you more and can select the pullets you want to keep. Rehoming cockerels is tough but there are people out there who will want them for their flocks and others for their freezer.
Good luck.
