I may make ramp steeper for complete clamber like they employ going up a tree trunk. The leaf guard is important now so they can get traction with toes. Mother can run up with leaf guard.

And hopefully not a get a toe too stuck.
At least it's plastic so won't cut feet.

Someone on here was using expanded metal for brooder floor and a bunch of chicks lost their toes.<cringe>

Had a bird clambering up chicken wire wall, got foot stuck, luckily I was right there to free it

No one gets foot stuck with this stuff. If you have issue because you do not like, then to not like elsewhere and make certain you do not confuse the plastic from what you use.

Had a 4 month poult do that, I also was there, 1/4" hwc

Looked for hours for a missing week old chick being raised by a broody in the poultry yard. Finally looked up and it was stiff hanging by wings in chicken wire

Hen wanted to roost in Persimmon tree above pen, but chicks could not make it and went straight to nest box. One chick was confused and went to top of nest box for a while and remained there until mother came back down and into pen and back up into nest box to settle for night. Chicks can fly a little in straight lines, but landing they do not do so well at. That is especially case when trying to stick landing on tree branch or a wire.
