Had the joy of hearing, at the same time: An ambulance siren, MY dog howling 5 feet from my ear at the top of her husky/various other breed lungs, and our NEIGHBORS' dog howling at the top of her German Shepherd lungs 20 feet away.

My sis calls our dog a wolf, so in that case "wolves" DO bark. As loudly as they can, right before they open up into an earsplitting howl.
