Hi all,
I'm at my wits end here... to condense this... 9 one year old hens. all doing well... all free range during the day...One developed a bad upper respiratory. Realized it when I picked her up for she appeared frail and hiding in coop, and fluid just poured out of her...I treated her with ACV alternating with Vet RX. She responded beautifully and lungs sound clear and she's back to eating and drinking and walking around BUT, she is literally skin and bone even though she eating. Brought in a fecal and it came back neg of any parasites/worms etc. She's unable to fly up to roost from being so frail so she is happily put in a cage in my office at night, and eats and drinks. I offered her other things she normally ate besides her crumble but has no interest in the great, yogurt, beef cat food, scrambled eggs. Im afraid I'm going to loose her if i do not find answers and this dramatic weight loss. She appeared to scratch herself, yet see no mites, but not sure id mights and cause such weight loss, and if so what is safe for such a frail hen. Not a fan of DE for a hen that concurred an upper respiratory.
