Okay, so just a consensus is needed, true or false: male Embden goslings are lighter in color than female Embden goslings (females being the darkest in coloration)??

Metzer says so, and so do a good few other random blogs online. Came across enough sites that say other wise, though I am finding that some of the white geese from Holderread's (i.e. Tufted Roman's) also have darker colored females than males (at least in their early stages, like those newly hatched).

Thanks to any and all clarifications

Normally, yes, the boys will be lighter than the girls. But they are not an auto-sexing breed (adult males and females of differing colors), so it is possible for the babies to be similar in color. But generally the females are darker than the males.

I'm sorta just crossing my fingers, this gosling has to be one of the friendliest birds we've had here. It was a feed store bird (from Dunlap Hatchery in Idaho), so I fully understand the higher risk there. Of all the goslings in the brooder it was the darkest of them all - some of the other looked truly white/yellow in comparison. My boyfriend and I figured because it is a hatchery birds that it wouldn't be SQ by any means so why not go with the funniest/most different looking one

I'm new to geese too, but read that the male Embden gosling have white belly hair while the girls are grey. That made me believe that mine is a boy. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow is a sweety.

Yes its my understanding too that the males are generally lighter in down colour than the female goslings. I love Embdens and have ordered a pair for later in the year

Our lone gosling (she will have a pair of Shetlands as friends in about a week) is now named Bijoux!! She's very responsive and even cuddles to your hands when you hold her. Looking forward to watching her get bigger. I am honestly taken aback, in a good way, just how friendly they are.

You could say I live in the Boise area. More like La Grande, OR though. Boise is close enough that I have found it a better substitute for city life than Portland. It's so much more accessible.

Here is the bird in question, she is female until convicted (with sound data) otherwise, here is Bijoux:
