My bulb just smashed what should I do to keep the heat there?
you got a 100 watt reg. light and a cover?
how many chicks, how old?
i have 24 eggs and about 1 day old
please tell me you wanted to say chicks not eggs
get another bulb. ASAP
How big is your brooder?
if its eggs, there is probably nothign you can do
but i am hoping chicks too.
i am incubating eggs unfortunately and the bulb is under the chicken wire so cant't take it out. does anyone know what else i can do?
They are hatching with a light bulb for heat or what? Pull a bulb out of something else or point a table lamp over them. Even a 60w can get over 90F if your house is near 70F. A 100w I can get an open top brooder over 100F with the house at 68F and the ceiling fan running. I rarely use anything but standard light bulbs and occasionally have had to pull one out of my ceiling fan and light.
If you have a spare you will have to take the eggs out and replace. Your only on day 1, just keep them warm in a towel til you finish.
