EMERGANCY!! DIEING CHICKEN - NEED HELP!!!

I think the point they were trying to make is that you can feed them whenever their crops are empty or mostly empty, which in some birds, including poultry, means you can feed them every 2-4 hours. They also said that the crop should be allowed to completely clear once a day, and this is true, which is why it's not usually necessary to get up in the middle of the night to feed them.

by the way, I did call the vet this morning, and she weighs about 380 grams, was fed 6 ccs of water, plus food which was 8 cc 3x.

I would stick with just the baby bird food and forget the yolk. What did the vet say about Baytril?

-Kathy

she said she goes by what they see going wrong with the animal and base the medications off of that, plus she said that it was more expensive.

She didnt mention anything about the Clavamox, but Dr.Pat is in surgery today, I have a 9am apt for revisit tomorrow morning.

Quote: The gram stain might show if she has an overgrowth of bacteria or yeast. If she has an overgrowth of gram negative bacteria it's probably worth switching to something like Baytril. If they find yeast, would be best to start her on something like ketoconazole.
