Aloha, I'm new to this site and I thank you in advance for your advice. I have 2 egg laying road island red chickens that I love however my issues is that a dog mauled an adolescent chicken in our yard and the chicken is injured (can't tell how badly). Over the last 8 hours the chicken seems to improve and then take a turn for the worse. I moved it and tried giving it water however it won't open its eyes and is shaking. I don't want to see it suffer and don't know what to do. Shall I let it alone and see if its better in the morning or do I humanely put it down? If I do put it down what the most humane way to do this? It's breaking my heart to see this poor chicken. Again thank you for your help.

Most likely there are internal injuries as well as external injuries. I would cull. Using a .22 shot to the head is the quickest, easiest, painless way to cull a bird.
