My day old chick has this air bubble on it! What is it and what can I do?

It could be a leaking air sac, also called subcutaneous emphysema or wind puff. It was caused by trauma to the back or neck. If the chick is not showing any distress, it may resolve on it's own. However, if the chick is in trouble go to the feed store and get an 18 gauge needle and 35 or 60 cc syringe. Very carefully (do not do this alone) poke the needle barely into the sac and either squeeze out the air or pull it out with the syringe. Don't attempt this if the chick is okay. It would be very easy to puncture an organ and do damge.
