EMERGENCY! Baby chick found in coop on the floor, barely alive! UPDATE

UPDATE: We decided to bring Hope back inside because we went out to check on her and we found her out from under Pumpkin and lying on her back...I think she decided to crawl out from under momma hen and do some exploring, but as I said, she's still wobbly and easily falls over.

So for now she's staying inside tonight. And I have some new pictures!

Here she is when I first brought her in, after she had started to come out of it a little but was still very weak and wouldn't open her eyes:

And this is when I put her in her brooder box when she perked up a little: (she has a little red mitten as her bed!

And here she is a little while ago, acting much more active and healthier like a normal baby chick!

Very cute. You could wait till the broody hatches more and but Hope under her then. If not looks like shes staying in the house.

I have a broody hen that I can but anything under and she will take care of it. She is kinda old and a very good momma.

UPDATE: Little Hope stayed in her brooder box all night and she's definitely doing OK now! She's a really REALLY loud peeper, too.

She sat in her box all night and peeped really loudly for a while, then fell asleep, the woke back up and started peeping again!

So cute! I woke up and checked on her a couple times. She was snuggled in her corner under the light, sitting on her mitten bed.

As for the broody hen, there are two eggs peeping under her that should be hatching soon. When they do, we'll move Hope in with them. But what I'm worried about is Pumpkin not being able to defend her chicks when they hatch; she's the only broody hen in the coop of other standard hens and already she couldn't keep one of the hens from kicking her and her newly hatched chick out of the nest box. So I don't know how she'll defend her chicks when they're out and running around with her if one of the other hens decides to try and attack one of them.

We can't temporarily keep her anywhere but in her coop, so we can't move her and her chicks anywhere until they're older.

Is she really huddling as close to the light as she can get? She may still be a tad cold Might be an idea to move the light as close as possible without her getting burnt. She'll take care of picking a spot where her temperature is good

I wouldn't put her back under the hen, I would just keep her in the house where it's safe, and you can keep an eye on her ..

Thanks! And yes, she's from our own chickens; a cross between a black Ameraucana hen and a Splash Cochin rooster.

She's sooo fluffy and cute! I'm so glad we found her and she lived. She's gonna be such a beautiful little hen!

We've had one hatch as the same breed as her...That one is named Oreo, who is her sister, and is broody right now.

She looked just like Hope when she was a chick and they're from the same parents...Here's what Oreo looks like: (and probably Hope will look very similar)
