Hello! A few days ago I had a female duck vanish. We assume she was eaten by something, as it has happened in the past. The next day we had another one vanish in broad daylight, while people were in the backyard. No trace of her anywhere. Today, she reappeared and is in horrible condition. She isnt quacking, she is limping, and won't eat. We aren't sure what happened. The other female still hasn't shown up, and we haven't seen anything indicating she was eaten, like a body or feathers.

Hi ramennoodle06 Welcome to BYC

I am sorry for your losses. Its seems that your ducks are being exposed to predators. Once a predator has been successful, it will keep coming back, as you have noted. Even in broad daylight when people are around. The last victim seems to have escaped although injured in the process. You don't mention what sort of ducks you have which would indicate if they have any useful flight.

Your ducks are not safe free ranging in your environment and need a predator proof pen.

The duck that has returned injured, needs to be kept separately from the other ducks until she has recovered. As well as food and drinking water, she needs water to bath herself in and water to swim in to exercise her injured limb withotu weight baring. Have you examined her closely for any wounds? They might need cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and possibly spraying with vetericyn
