emergency for 2 day old chick

Hi,
I am Denice and I love the baby chicks. right now I have a serious problem with a little one I need some help.
I am a real dummy about how chicks eliminate. I am thinking they pee from one place and poo from another, could be
wrong tho, please enlighten me. I have one chick that has a black spot where I think she should pee from and her belly seems over full. she is not doing well. She does not want to eat or drink. I am wondering if this black spot is deied something that needs to come off so she can pee.
Please any suggestions??? I have soaked her little belly in warm sudsy water and rubbed it with a Q-tip also some polysporen but no good
results. I am afraid she will not live much longer.

it all come from the vent, located under the tail. it is normal for chicks to not eat and drink for a couple of days as they are still living off the last of the albumen (egg white) and yolk. the crop (the area just below the neck) may be full from eating unnecessary food, so don't force her to eat more. also, i don't know if you know this, chicks always sleep a lot, so that has nothing to do with it. are there any other worrying symtoms like clouded eyes, inconsistent manure, overall inactivity and alertness (when awake, that is) and she should be cheeping contentedly (if she's not cheeping at all, be worried). one more thing: make sure the brooder light isn't too hot. if the chics are crowding around the edges of the brooder and/or panting, your light is too close. just move it up a bit and make sure the box is kept at 95 degrees the 1st week, and lowered about 5 degrees each week until it is the same tempurature as the room they are staying in. good luck with your chickys and maybe do a little "reading up" on your new pets!
