Florida, the Sunshine State!
Hey there! This is my second post, the last post has been very informative and helpful so I’ve decided this website might might help with this type of situation. We just went to a park/sanctuary and we found this egg! We believe it may be a peafowl egg as there were many females & males there. We first made sure if there was anyone around but there was nobody. This egg was all alone (no other eggs near) and nowhere near any of the animals. I kept it in my hand with a bag over it to try to keep it warm while we explored the area and then went home. I don’t know what to do! I have no hatching experience and I’ve never hatched an egg before. At the moment of typing this, it is on my stomach as I’ve heard it can keep an egg warm. For the questions - What type of egg is this really? And how could we hatch it if we could? We have no incubators but we do have a 250 watt heat lamp. We have no idea how old the egg is. We also want to find a way to candle the egg, to see if it is even fertile. Can it be done with a phone’s flashlight? If we do initially hatch this egg and it grows up to be a beautiful bird, we plan to donate back to the sanctuary, or give it to one of our friends or family if they have the right conditions. I currently have two other about-3-month-old roosters. Thanks for the help in advance!!

The pictures below are photos of the egg. The egg is quite large. It is yellowish with darker-looking stains. (The lighting tends to change, but the the second and the third picture are most true to color. Also, there is a marker and an normal chicken egg for size comparison.)

Welcome to BYC. It does look like a pea egg. Without an incubator you will not be able to hatch it, so I suggest taking it back and putting it exactly where you found it.
Bad news is, I don’t think I am able to put it back as it may dangerous and/or costly. Good news is, I’ve decided I AM going to buy/make an incubator! I’ll have to see what happens then, there is no telling what might come of the future. May be fertile or not. I’ve candled the egg with my phone and so far there are no signs of life, but it may be too early. I’ll keep updated. Thanks for the reply, though!
