Unfortunately, today I found a dead pullet (nearly identical, likely the same) in the rear corner of the coop.

It was upsetting after the hard work and care.

I regret not keeping her in the house longer, a lesson learned.

that's rough. I'm sorry to hear it. Sometimes we seem to learn through the school of hard knocks

Thank you for the condolences.

This week was horrid.

1st, The chicken died, for which I feel somewhat guilty.
2nd, our cat had acute liver failure, and after a $500 Emergency vet visit, he didnt make it. I buried him at home.
3rd, the very same day the neighbor (1 mile away) dog snapped his chain and a 100-pound NorweigianElkhound charged my fiance and our new lab we adopted. Dog has puncture wounds to the face and fiance is very emotional.

No pity party invitations, but seriously... I need a break.
