*Emergency* *large* stinking* wound* PLEASE HELP!! Gave Her a Bath

That good news I-Have-Happy-Hens. Just keep with the good work. Its going to be a long road, I know mine is...LOL...couple days ago I tried to let her range with her old flock, other 4 two year olds, and 2 of the 4 went crazy and tried to get her pretty good. Had to break it up and seperate her in outdoor pen while I was working around garage. Then last night I let her out FIRST to run the yard for bout 20 minutes before I let the other girls out, the let them out and they kinda walked right past for bout 2 hrs, there was couple small quarrels, but she was holding her own, and no damage done. Just alot of puffin up, and dancing. But all is well.

She even went back in to her old coop with the others at sundown. I went to get her to clean her up because she was doing ALOT of dust bathing. Well upon cleaning her (saline) the scab that was 2 1/4" wide, an 4" long was peeling so I tried to trim it back, well it ended up coming completely off. It actually made it alot easier to clean, so good soaking, and squirting and she is all cleaned up, then just lathered on the Neosporin. She is up and about and wanting OUT of basement BADLY!!!! And letting you know it. So when she scabs again and I can keep it clean back to the flock she goes.

I would never have imagined it was possible to rehab her, with the smell, flesh damage, and the TON of maggots that were on her. But it has been bout 3 1/2 weeks now and she is making a full recovery.....little less feathers, but she is a chicken again. I was going to cull her as soon as I saw her to put her out of her suspected misery. DANG CHICKENS ARE TOUGH!!!!!! and resiliant.

Thank ya'll for the words of wisdom, and the confidence, and know-how to keep her around. She is only still alive cause of ya'll.

Good luck and GOD BLESS.
