Emergency our hen Scarlett has something purplish/brown hanging from vent.

****UPDATE*******
I posted a few mins ago but wanted to let people know that our friend came by and it is NOT her over. It's a lash egg. He said their over can come out but that is not what's wrong .Unfortunately I am going to have to put her down because we found one about 3 weeks ago in the coop but didn't know who had laid it .But now we know and it's her second one in three weeks .I just wanted to let y'all know it's not her ovary. Thank you everyone. I also wanted to let people know on my original post I stated I couldn't upload the pics . I will figure out how to make my photos smaller before I have another question. Thank you everyone..
Very sorry for her prognosis. :( :hugs

At her age, I too would cull for lash egg and consider it the kind route since chickens as prey animals will hide their discomfort just as long as they possibly can.

My suggestion for making your photos smaller when you need to post is to change the resolution setting lower on you camera before taking the pic.

Barred Rock are some of my favorite birds. Rest in peace pretty lady! :love

How is she doing today? Some hens have lash eggs in their abdomens, and sometimes you won’t know it until they are butchered or a necropsy is done. Salpingitis is the cause, and she may do okay for awhile. I would see if she will eat and drink, offering some watery feed, cooked egg, and possibly some tuna or liver. Some try antibiotics such as amoxicillin or Baytril to help fight infection, and it may help extend her life, but they may or may not work. I would let her do what she feels like doing.
