I had a little RIR rooster that I found in 2008 that was debeaked and the beak was split all the way up. When he drank water, bubbles came out of his eyes. Eating was almost impossible for him so most of the time we hand fed him. He loved scratch but couldn't eat enough to gain weight. He was severely malnourished, covered in lice and mites, had a broken neck and legs. So what my vet recommended was eggs, yogurt, and layer crumble mixed with water to make it an oatmeal consistancy and very sticky. We would put that in a deep plastic bowl, since glass or metal would hurt his sore beak if he banged it on the bowl. We also gave him canned cat food, which he loved and it was suggested by our avian vet to get him to gain weight. So if you could take their crumbles, add some egg, yogurt and water and even veggies and put it in a blender and make it a sticky oatmeal consitancy, it would be very easy for the hen with the missing part of her upper beak to eat.
