Emergency. . .? Pls help

I have an ayam cemani hen that just this weekend started coughing sneezing and gurgling but she’s been eating and drinking just fine. What could it be ?


Secondly My Easter egger mix hen is all puffy and a bit more lazy than usual she’s been like this for about 2 weeks but eating and drinking well (that I know of) what could this be?!

What can I do to help her?

If she's very sick and weak, she could use an antibiotic to treat the symptoms. Unfortunately, Canada is even worse than some US states that make it nearly impossible to get antibiotics for your sick animals. Tylan 50 or Tylosin powder is what we usually use for this disease.

Your alternative is to boost her health with nutrition and vitamins to support her immune system so she can fight it off. Most chickens are able to recover on their own. However, if this is not just common MG, the other respiratory diseases do require an antibiotic if you want the chicken to survive. If she gets worse, you might consider asking a vet for an antibiotic.

If she's having a lot of trouble breathing, a vaporizer with peppermint oil directed over her so she breathes the mist can help a lot. It's not a cure, but it sure will help her breathe easier.
