I'm attempting to rescue this girl tonight. What are treatments I should consider on her neck? First lake rescue and ... Tips?

I won't be putting her with my other ducks obviously, but want her to feel safe.

looks like her mate is over mating her. (Or that shes been violently attacked by a drake gang.) Vetericyn spray, blue kote or even *neospirin* would work. Give her hard boiled eggs and other high protein snacks while her feathers grow back. I would keep her separate from the drakes if you can. She'll be awful lonely all by herself though l. Are there any other female ducks you could take from the same place to be her companion?

*not newsprint...really, autocorrect!

Was she attacked.. clean it up real good with warm salty water or spray the heck out of it with Vetericyn . good poultry vitamins in her water along with feed and lots of TLC.. Good for you hope the rescue goes great! you could also after washing her wounds put triple antibiotic on it or neo. nothing with pain relief though.

Clint she said she wasn't putting her with her other ducks. That sounds like bio security.

But still did not say how she would treat the new one...nor how long to keep them separated. Can't judge biosecurity by "just keeping the separate".

I agree but I think she was in a hurry was why she didn't go into details, hopefully she already knows what she needs to do since she has brought other ducks into her flock before this.

this definitely looks like bareback to me. how many drakes and hens do you have? i recommend at least 3 girls for every one drake, and anything less results in these types of injuries. definitely clean it (i use vetericyn when my birds get hurt). once the dirt is out treat it with triple antibiotics or neosporin to prevent infection. keep her isolated, but maybe put the pen close to the other ducks so she is not lonely. make sure that they cant fit their heads through the bars though, or else it wont heal.
increase protein while her feathers are growing, and she'll be fine in a few weeks.
