This is a post for a relative. This is their Svart Hona rooster. She just walked in and thought he was dust bathing then realized something was wrong with him.

It looks like some sort of prolapse and she thinks maybe a mouse was chewing on it but can't tell. If that's what it is he must have a bad bacterial infection because he seems like he's fading fast. Tipping over, wings on the ground.

What's the fastest chance to save him if it's an infection? Something like Tylan? Please help! She soaked it in betadine.

Having a warm bath in epsom salts would also help clear stuff out and off of that area and may reduce swelling.

If she has any vitamins (like Nutri-Drench) she should immediately add it to his water to help his immune system.

She needs to get the rooster inside as quickly as possible and start working with him. Talk in a soothing calm voice. Explain what she is doing and why she is doing it.

No one has said if they think it's a prolapsed vent. From my understanding, if it is, it needs to be cleaned up and pushed back in.

I hope he makes it!
