I'm back again and too soon I might add!!! I now have a Serama cockerel that I just found laying in his cage with his neck cocked to one side like he broke his neck. When I picked him up to check him, I noticed his crop is swollen like an empty balloon. He is still on chick starter with his other hatch mates. he is almost 2 months old. I did give them a little scratch feed with mealworms last night and added chick grit with it. Also, I will toss chick grit in their cage when I give them their first treats. If there is anything else you need to help, please let me know and I will provide it. I really need help ASAP, because this is a life or death emergency.

Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately, since you already have one chick displaying symptoms of neurological Marek's, this bird may well also have the disease. It can cause wry neck as well as other asymmetrical paralysis. The swollen crop may be due to the twisted neck preventing passage of food or it may be a tumour. Is he able to or interested in eating and drinking?

I have my Seramas in a building that is on the other side of our property. They have never had contact.

Marek's can be carried on your clothes, hair, skin and shoes or even on the wind. It is spread via infected dander dust. If you have not been changing clothes and washing hands etc between coops then it is easily spread. Of course it may not be Marek's but when you have 2 young chickens exhibiting neurological symptoms then it is usually more than coincidence and Marek's is extremely common.
Nutri Drench is good, but you could also try vitamin E capsules and a little scrambled egg or tuna to provide dietary selenium to see if that will help the wry neck. Is he able to eat or drink?

Is his crop full of air? Like a balloon? Squishy? Hard?
Maybe wry neck, which is a vitamin E deficiency.
More like a balloon. I only gave him nutri-dre

Thank you. I do take every precaution with them such as I wear one pair of boots if I have to help my husband with the other chickens and another for my Serama area. I always wash my hands when I go in but as you said it can be carried from a piece of clothing. I will try and get him to eat and keep updated information. Again thank you
