EMERGENCY sudden lethargy

We haven't heard from OP in a bit, have we..? I hope the hen is doing better...

Hi everyone, I just want you all to know that I so so so greatly appreciate your help. I got called in to work at the ABSOLUTE WORST time tonight, so I have someone else checking in on her So far, they have not noticed any changes and there are no more worms. As soon as I get home, I'm going to wash her up with dawn and try to figure this out. What in the world am I supposed to do if it actually is a prolapsed vent with maggots still inside of her? I don’t have any poultry vets near me (that I know of), and I really don’t know what to do.

Would the maggots have caused all her lethargy and inability to use her legs??? Or was that the possible prolapse?

There isn’t much at all, she got a bath after the maggot discovery. I’m going to give her another to get the remaining poop off.

Update: She’s standing, clucking (which is completely new), looking around, and eating by herself! I couldn’t find any more worms on her skin. However, I’m still concerned that there could still be some inside her. Would the maggots have caused her lethargy and inability to walk?

Glad she's feeling better, thanks for the update! Sorry I can't answer your question definitively but it's my guess that yes, if she had an anus full of maggots that would have made her lethargic and unwilling to walk.

Ok, thank you! She’s still having occasional random watery poop, is there anything I can do to help fix that? All her poop just looks “off” in general.
