My Amerucana grabbed a 3 in piece of gauze out of my hand and ate it. She now can't poop and has a swollen vent. I've tried to help soothe the poop with an enema, and washed it with Epson salt. Nothing has worked and the gauze has just plugged her up. Blood and a bloody tissue thing came out of her vent. Whenever she tries to poop water and a little bit of blood comes out. I'm putting her in quarantine for now. help please she's my favorite. I don't wanna lose her. What do I do it's been 24 hours since she's swallowed it?

How long ago did she eat the gauze? Does she have a vent prolapse now that would explain the swollen vent and bloody tissue? Can you feel inside her vent with a rubber glove and a lubricated finger 1-2 inches? If the vent is prolapsed, it needs to be pushed back in. Honey, sugar, or Preparation H can be applied to a prolapse to help shrink it. Epsom salt flush (1 tsp epsom salt dissolved in 1/2 cup water--give a few sips with a dropper every 12 hours for 2 days) or mineral oil 1 tsp can be given to help pass the gauze. If you can get her to a vet somehow it would be best.

24 hours ago. I'll do e lubricated glove and other steps right now. Thank you so much.
