DW says I have too many in my lab/bathroom and the smell might attract mice.I just cant see this type of plastic fiber bag going just to the trash in one form or another.I got about ten of em.

Maybe when we get out singer 15-91 sewing machine in full swing,we can sew some handbags and usefull stuff. Thanks for all your ideas.

I always try to give things that are supposed to be disposable at least one more use. That way I feel like I'm doing something to help reduce the load at the landfills. It also helps me save $$$, if I can use plastic grocery bags for storage or feed sacks for garbage instead of buying bags especially for that use from the store.

Perhaps you can find other uses for these bags so you're not storing them in such quantities. I agree that the remnants of feed in all those bags can attract pests.

Another good use for those plastic feed bags is to keep a few in your vehicle. They'd be handy to lie/kneel upon if you had to change a tire or go under the vehicle for repair on the side of the road. They'd also be handy placed under your picnic blanket if the grass is wet, or on a damp seat in the bleachers.

I am saving all of mine like that for the same reason. I can't sew, except to mend a seam, but I have an aunt that does. I'm gonna hit her up to make reusable tote bags for me. The ones all the stores sell are just too small to put much into. I'm trying to recycle as much as possible!

It would be much greener to make (or have Auntie make) your reusable tote bags from your empty feed bags than to buy those cheesy ones sold in most stores -- that are imported from China!!! How long must each bag be used to erase the carbon footprint made by transporting them halfway across the globe?

That's a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing that.

Don't throw that out! Compost it! Or advertise it for free on craigslist and people will snatch it up to compost themselves! The bags and chicken poop are fantastic for gardens! You could even sale it!
I line my garden walk way with the bags, even take all my friends and neighbor's bags off their hands, and then cover them with hay, straw or leaves, and over the summer they repress weeds so I don't have to mow in the walk ways, while breaking down and enriching the soil so when I move my garden in a few years! it will make rich grazing land for my animals.

I've seen the reused/handmade bags for shopping made out of them. See them at the stores all the time!

I even see people selling them online, and in little boutiques in town!

I line the rabbit and quail drop pans with them. Just pull it out, dump the poop into the compost, hose it off and it goes right back in. I reuse them until they stink or wear out.

I normally line my garden paths with 8-12 layers of newspaper covered with leaves, etc. but it occurs to me that these bags, cut open the long way would be perfect path liners. I'm sure they'd break down eventually.
