Emu Egg Hatch-along

Pics
That's a good point and reminder. I am trying not to worry. I am having flashbacks to the hatch in February where all 3 eggs wiggled, 2 hatched and the third slowing stopped wiggling and when I opened it the baby was malpositioned and trying to pip at the wrong end. Hoping that does not happen again. I am going to weigh it this morning and see how much it lost this last week. It is still wiggling though!

Did you have 4 eggs at one point?
I have 4 still in bator
The smallest egg I don’t think has a baby inside
Never saw any movement from it
It sounded different then the other 3 with the tap method
It also cools a few degrees more then the other 3 when left out

Ok I just observed the 2nd egg. The shell doesn't really seem any different and it's still wiggling! I did a final weight and it's crazy! The egg that is hatching started at 453 and lost 101 grams for 28.69%. The egg that is wiggling, but not internally pipped yet started at 453 and has only lost 55 grams for 13.81%. I am baffled! Same incubator/temp/humidity the entire time. I've read sources that say 12 to 15% and 15 to 17 or even 20%, but 28% seems so crazy. I am wondering if this weighing this is really worth it if it just causes stress. Haha!

I hope they both hatch out perfectly formed and healthy.

I weighed these guys the first day but never followed up after that
Crossing my fingers for both of us :))

I have another baby out! The other is still TBD. A little tiny standard gray. Now my white baby has a friend. I'll miss our cuddle sessions in the blanket in the chair. Lol!

I opened the other 2 that should have hatched on Monday with the white baby. One was clear with a little blood and the other had a quitter of about 30ish days old or so. I knew I'd seen it wiggle a few times, but then it obviously quit.

Congratulations!

I'm sorry your others didn't make it.
