Well, the other day I had a few beers with a friend and later that night he went hoe and the Queen went to bed. I was on eBay unsupervised and two day later I had four emu eggs. I scrambled (excuse the pun) to make an incubator out of a foam ice-chest and have the eggs in it. Not sure what the odds are of getting them to hatch, but I am trying to do everything right. I lost a bunch of chickens to a dog in the neighborhood, I figure they will protect my flock, LOL

wow, thats kinda cool, though if I was the queen I would start questioning your alone time lol
I hope they hatch, and I hope you post pics

7 days in the incubator and we are turning the eggs 6 times a day. Humidity is right at 40% and I have been weighing the eggs every few days. They need to lose 17% of their weight over the 50 day incubation period and they are right on target well within 2 grams. I raise and lower the humidity to keep them on their weight loss schedual... Crossing my fingers...

I hope your hatch goes well. Careful on your flock guards . Our emu loved humans, but hated all animals smaller than themselves, thus, massive chicken stomping. Now they are on a large farm running with cattle. My buddy said at first they were agressive towards new calves, but guesses they got an attitude adjustment by momma cow. Now they stay a short distance from the herd.
