Enclosure built. Utilized my small garden! Very pleased :D Pics

Thanks everyone so much for your lovely comments! I'm so proud of it, and am going to paint it soon. Probably a dark browny-red and a white (like the old school American barns that I've seen on films!) When the weather gets warmer, I'll be definitely sitting on the patio drinking tea - or wine - watching my birds.
I didn't build the coops myself, I wish I could do that, but I haven't really got the know-how or brawn to do it! I have a lovely blue laced wyandotte to add soon, when she is better (ovary infection), spent a load on vets bills this week!!

Jak2002003- I haven't asked anyone if I can keep chickens, i'm sure i'm meant to inform the council... neighbours love them and I have told the neighbours that if the cockerel becomes a problem then I would rather that they tell me rather than the council, and they seemed happy with that arrangement. I clean them out all of the time, as to not annoy the neighbours with the smell. I think it's a God-given right to own your own smallholding, but I doubt the council would see it that way! Oh well, I'm not getting rid of my chickens.. I'd stick it to da man!

Did you have to get rid of yours while in the UK?

Thanks again everyone :)

Yes, sadly I had to get rid of mine. It was down to one crazy neighbour that was worried they would get bird flue. I only had 5 bantam hens.

I used to work at a pet shop, and a regular customer came in in tears because her neighbour had gone into her garden when she was out and shot all her chickens, pheasants and ducks. Again this was when the bird flue scare was on. Some people are so crazy it makes me mad.

Now I live in Thailand and we can keep anything we want in the garden! I have about 30 Japanese bantams, some fancy pigeons, and finches. Also a small dog.

What you have done sounds great. Its good that you have nice neighbours.

How is it like living in Thailand? I've always wanted to live somewhere.. I don't know away from here! (America) lol

Aw no that's terrible about that ladies neighbours! I would've flipped out!
Mine seem to be understanding and I have spotted them hanging out of their back windows watching my chickens in the garden, so I'm sure they love them. They have even been round to warn me when they see foxes!

Thailand - wow! Must be amazing over there!! X

Its great. But sometimes too hot in the dry season! Also lots of mosquitoes. But i can keep whatever animals I like in my back yard lol.

You are in Canada right? I want to go there to see the national parks and wilderness and all that wildlife. Also love all that snow in the winter - we never got any real snow in the UK.

Maybe we have to do a swap for a month and we can take care of each other chickens!!! Only I need a good few months to save up for the air ticket!!!!!!!
