You guys did a great job on that coop! That's cool how it's built sandwiched between the wood storage. What a great windbreak for your guys' winter weather! And your chicken tunnel to the run is pretty cool too!!

Two things I get excited about...chickens, and firewood and you managed to get it all in one place. Very nice.

I am new to this chicken thing so here is my question(s). I am building a chicken coop my hen house is 8' long and 4' deep my run is 8' x 8' is this big enough for 6 chickens? also I live in central PA and I am worried about the cold in the winter shold I place a light bulb inside the house to keep the hens warm? Thanks for any and all replys

The minimum size is typically 4 sq. feet per standard hen inside and 10 Sq. feet outdoors for each. So the minimum for 6 hens would be:
6x4=24 sq. feet indoors and you have 8x4 = 32 sq. feet so plenty of room there.
6x10= 60 sq. feet outdoors and you have 8x8=64 sq. feet so great there too!

For heat I would recommend to go surfing on the Net for a panel heater that will not accidentally cause a fire. However, I don't need a heater in my area and am not an expert.
