Here's a photo timeline of the construction of our coop, happy home to 9 two-month old birds of various breeds. It's an A-frame built out of junk materials, including kitchen cabinets and closet doors. It's a 6x10 coop with an enclosed attached yard. We tried to maximize rain-proofing, which includes several little overhangs and covers over doors and windows (so we can leave it open for the summer heat but not fret over the sudden surprise thunderstorm getting the insides wet).

Coop and run...additional run beyond paddock w/shed. Plenty of room to free range and shade themselves under the trampoline and nestle under the forsythia.

Here are some pics of our coop.

It's 6' x 8' with an 8 x 15 run plus sheltered run under the coop. We used 2x4 construction 16" on center with 1/2" plywood and red cedar A shingles. The windows came from ebay and worked out well. The floor is 2x8 16" O.C. with 3/4" plywood. It was painted Herculiner pickup truck bed liner from walmart. Hopefully, this will be able to withstand pressure washing. Framing for the run is 4x4 pt with four of the posts anchored in concrete and then fastened to the coop. The base of the run is 6x6 pt notched together and notched around the anchor posts. Hardware cloth encloses the entire run andis burried 30" deep around the sides. The nest boxes have a door and can slide out for cleaning, and the screen panel under the coop, on the nest box side, can be opened for cleaning.
