You are right of course. I just couldn't do the other methods for some personal family reasons. I agonized about it and tried to be as kind as possible. Sometimes life just hands us impossible choices. I couldn't do a method that would damage the body of him. The family didn't know I had to cull our rooster and my autistic son would have taken weeks to deal with the idea of culling. I don't recommend it as a way to do regular culling, but I was in an impossible situation. After he passed I placed him under the cactus near the back door and "found" him the next day claiming he passed quietly in his sleep. The family buried him with full military honors next to the shed in the back yard. It was really one of the most awful things I have ever had to do. Folks here were very supportive of what I did and talked me through the worst of it.Dry ice releases out carbon dioxide, unlike carbon monoxide carbon dioxide will burn your lungs and suffocate the bird for several minutes. I would not recommend this for a quick death but it will work.
