Ending the life of a pet chicken without chopping or breaking.

Because it's basically like drowning- the brain doesn't monitor oxygen, it monitors CO2 in the blood - when you gas an animal with CO2, they can tell they can't breathe - it's painful, and it sets off all sorts of panic processes.

If you're going to gas them, use something like Nitrogen gas (you can get it for Stout beer taps) - that's a lot more humane - CO2 content in the blood won't spike, so the animal won't have any of the panic or pain.
