Energy and how to save some around the house

Ok, yes the heat is on in dear ole Kansas.

Real temp outside - 101 and with the heat index it is a smoking 115

So what was I out doing this morning - cleaning the cooling fins on the central air conditioner and then cleaning (it is one of those metal reusable ones) the air filter for the ac.

The cleaning of the cooling fins is about a 10 -15 minute job but oh what a difference it does make on how hard the A/C has to work to keep the house cool.

*Move out the kids!! LOL!! My electric bill dropped by almost $5O when my oldest DS moved out -- with his computer, vid system, two fans, summer a/c, electric guitars & amps, cell phone charger and general electrical mayhem. Dropped another 15-2O when the younger left. Now, if I could just get DH to quit dropping the a/c temp!!!!
