My wife's post:
I just purchased a 6 week old English Angora bunny! His color description is chocolate. His hair is light brown on the tips and gray next to his skin. Will he always be this color or will he turn gray as he gets older? I'm trying to decide on his name. I want to call him cocoa but not if he is going to be gray after I groom him as he gets older.

He will stay chocolate.
On Chocoaltes, the guard hairs & furred areas will be dark chocolate and the wool will be a lighter chocolate that fades to a grey near the skin.

Congrats on the new Fuzzy Friend.
English Angoras are color classified by the coloration on the hair & guard hair, not the wooled areas. Traditionally the wool is lighter (a black has gray, a chocolate has tanish shades, etc.). The Hair areas are around the nose/eyes and the toes. Everything else is a combination of guard hairs (and you should have a nice mixture to help keep the coat maintainable) and wool. This rule applies for the solids. When you get into tort, agouti and all the mixes, the process is a little different. So, if your new friend has a brown based face, you have a new Cocoa ...

BTW ... one of my best producers was a Choc. His show name was DB Special Dark ... AKA Cocoa! His sister was Hershey! Both were great show animals that gave me a lot of love and wool!

Thank you so much! I'm thinking of Cocoa or Skipper, he has a cute little hop step when he's excited. I'm afraid my new love for bunnies might surpass my husband's love for his chickens! We truly are enjoying our new farm life.
